{"id":11274,"date":"2026-07-23T09:25:42","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T09:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/srms.ac.in\/ims\/?p=11274"},"modified":"2026-07-23T09:25:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T09:25:42","slug":"a-small-shot-today-a-safer-tomorrow-srms-institute-of-medical-sciences-step-up-for-young-girls-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/srms.ac.in\/ims\/a-small-shot-today-a-safer-tomorrow-srms-institute-of-medical-sciences-step-up-for-young-girls-health\/","title":{"rendered":"A SMALL SHOT TODAY, A SAFER TOMORROW: SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES STEP UP FOR YOUNG GIRLS\u2019 HEALTH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Because prevention isn\u2019t just better than cure; it\u2019s powerful\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Marking <strong>World Health Day 2026<\/strong> and aligning with the WHO theme <em>\u201cHealthy beginnings, hopeful futures,\u201d<\/em> <strong>SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly<\/strong> took a meaningful step by launching a <strong>free HPV vaccination drive<\/strong> for girls aged <strong>9\u201314 years<\/strong>, aimed at protecting them early against HPV-related diseases and cervical cancer.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative, part of a nationwide campaign, saw active involvement from the <strong>Departments of Community Medicine, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology. <\/strong>The session was inaugurated by <strong>Dr Prashant Ranjan<\/strong> (DIO, Bareilly), with insightful guidance from <strong>Prof Dr Vandana Negi<\/strong> (HOD, Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology), <strong>Prof Dr (Col) Manoj Kumar Tangri <\/strong>(Department of Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology), and <strong>Dr Abhinav Pandey<\/strong> (Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine), each highlighting the importance of awareness, early protection, and preventive healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>In a powerful start, <strong>five girls <\/strong>(aged 14-15 years) from <strong>Bhojipura block<\/strong> voluntarily received their HPV vaccine dose free of cost, along with vaccination certificates.
