MORE THAN MOVEMENT: SRMS INSTITUTE of ALLIED & HEALTHCARE SCIENCES’ marks WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY DAY with LEARNING, PRACTICE & PURPOSE

Physiotherapy is about much more than movement. It is about helping people regain strength, confidence and the ability to live better, and World Physiotherapy Day was an opportunity for students at SRMS Institute of Allied & Healthcare Sciences (IAHS), Bareilly to experience that spirit of the profession firsthand. The Department of Physiotherapy, SRMS IAHS celebrated the day bringing together 130 students and faculty members for a day of learning, interaction and hands-on practice.

The highlight of the celebration was a Guest Lecture-cum-Hands-on Training Workshop by Dr Tabassum (PT), Assistant Professor & Ph.D. Scholar, SGRRU, Dehradun, on “Mat Pilates Foundation: Core & Pelvic Floor Awareness for Women’s Health.” Moving beyond theory, the session gave students practical exposure to Mat Pilates, core activation and pelvic floor rehabilitation techniques, making the learning both interactive and relevant to clinical practice.

The programme began with the welcome of the guest speaker, followed by the presentation of saplings as a gesture of green gratitude. Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Principal, presented a sapling to Dr Tabassum, while Dr Nabeela Khanam (PT), Incharge, presented one to the Principal. The celebration continued with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by an address by Dr Jaspreet Kaur, who spoke about the importance and growing role of physiotherapy. A memento was also presented to Dr Tabassum as a token of appreciation. The programme was gracefully conducted by Madiha Khan, BPT Batch 2022, and concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ziya Fatima, BPT Batch 2023.
