LEARNING TOGETHER…TEACHING BETTER…GROWING STRONGER…

The Department of Medical Education Unit at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) recently hosted a Faculty Development Program (FDP) that brought educators from across associated institutes together for a day of learning, interaction, and meaningful exchange.

With 28 enthusiastic participants from SRMS Institute of Paramedical Sciences (IPS) and SRMS College of Nursing, the program focused on strengthening teaching methodologies, sharpening assessment skills, and building a collaborative learning culture. The day began on an energetic note with an ice-breaking session, helping participants connect and engage.

The FDP featured a series of insightful sessions by experienced resource faculty:

·         Dr Jaswinder Singh, Convener, DOME, SRMSIMS, opened the program with discussions on group dynamics, assessment strategies, and effective question framing.

·         Dr Ruchee Khandelwal explored the core principles of learning and their role in improving classroom effectiveness.

·         Dr Dhananjay Kumar and Dr Kranti Kumar conducted an engaging workshop on framing clear and measurable learning objectives.

·         Dr Vandana Sardna highlighted different assessment methods and their importance in enhancing the teaching–learning process.

·         Dr Sandhya Chauhan shed light on AETCOM, underlining the importance of attitude, ethics, and communication in medical education.

Interactive discussions, role plays, and hands-on activities made the sessions lively and practical, encouraging participants to reflect, share experiences, and learn from one another. However, the FDP successfully met its objective of empowering educators with better tools, clearer perspectives, and renewed enthusiasm for teaching, and reinforcing SRMSIMS’ commitment to academic excellence and continuous professional development.
