SRMS PARAMEDICAL STUDENTS DIVE INTO THE SCIENCE OF YOGA FOR HOLISTIC HEALING & PHYSIOTHERAPY

In a move to integrate traditional wellness with modern science, SRMS Institute of Paramedical Sciences (IPS), Bareilly hosted an insightful Guest Lecture and hands-on session on ‘Yoga: Basic Theory, Science & Techniques’ for BPT Batch 2024 students. The event aimed at enriching physiotherapy education by exploring the scientific and therapeutic dimensions of yoga.

The session featured two industry experts, Dr Mithun Prakash (PT), Yoga Therapist and Consultant Physiotherapist at Medanta Hospital, Lucknow, and Mohini Parashari, Co-Director of Asana and Wellness Studio, Bareilly.

Dr Mithun Prakash shed light on the physiological and neurological impacts of yoga, emphasizing its growing relevance in neurological rehabilitation, mental health, and holistic patient care within physiotherapy. The theoretical insights were complemented by a live practical demonstration by Mohini Parashari, who guided students through foundational asanas, breathing techniques, and body alignment exercises.

Welcoming the guests, Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Principal, IPS, and Dr Nabeela Kahanam (PT), In-charge of the Department of Physiotherapy, underlined the importance of blending ancient healing systems with evidence-based practice. Saplings and mementos were presented as tokens of appreciation. The event was successfully coordinated by Dr Shivank Chaudhary (PT), DSW, and Dr Hina Siddiqui (PT), BPT Batch Coordinator.
