SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES’ HOSTS PHARMACOVIGILANCE TRAINING WORKSHOP ON ADR AWARENESS & CAREER PATHWAYS

The Department of Pharmacology, SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly, in collaboration with SRMS College of Engineering & Technology (CET Pharmacy), organized a one-day Pharmacovigilance Training Workshop under the aegis of NCC: National Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), IPC, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Ghaziabad.

Held under the guidance of Dr Meenakshi Jindal, Professor & Head, Pharmacology & AMC Coordinator, and Dr Amit Kumar Sharma, Dean of Pharmacy, the event was conducted by Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre (AMC) at IMS. Students were sensitized to the importance of detecting and reporting ADRs for patient safety and rational drug use. They were also briefed on career avenues such as Pharmacovigilance Associate/Manager, Data & Clinical Research Analyst in hospitals and WHO, Drug Safety Officer etc.

Sessions by Dr Meenakshi Jindal & Dr Sanjay Kumar (Assistant Professor, Pharmacology) covered AMC operations, ADR Form 1.4, consumer forms & Causality Assessment. A post-test assessed learning, followed by an ADR collection activity. Soon after, certificate distribution was done by Aditya Murti, Director Administration, who said, “Bringing both disciplines together enhances learning outcomes and fosters a culture of collaboration.”

The workshop was attended by Dr RP Singh (Medical Superintendent), Dr Rohit Sharma (Dean PG), Dr Bindu Garg (Dean UG), Dr Nita Yadav (Professor, Pharmaceutical Chemistry), and faculty from Pharmacology (IMS) & CET (Pharmacy).
