FROM CIRCUITS TO MOVEMENT: SRMS ENGINEERING STUDENTS GET HANDS-ON WITH ROBOTICS

Robotics becomes a lot more exciting when you stop watching it and start building it yourself…

That’s exactly what students experienced at the Hands-on Training on Line Follower & Multi-functional Robot, organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Robotrax Club, SRMS College of Engineering & Technology (CET), Bareilly.

The session brought together around 70 students and 10 faculty members from ECE, Engineering, AI/ML and M Tech ECE, giving participants an opportunity to explore robotics beyond the classroom. Led by Dr Sovan Mohanty, HOD, ECE, the session introduced students to sensors and robotics, along with the fundamentals of embedded systems and robotic movement. Students got practical exposure to the design, assembly and programming of a line follower robot, working with platforms including Arduino, ESP8266 and ESP32.

What made the session particularly engaging was its hands-on, collaborative and peer-to-peer approach, allowing beginners as well as robotics enthusiasts to learn by doing, experimenting and understanding how sensors, controllers and movement work together. The training was followed by QUIZBOT-I, conducted by the Robotrax Club, putting students’ understanding and quick thinking to the test. Because sometimes, the best way to understand technology is simple: build it, test it and make it move.
