100 YEARS OF A LEGEND: SRMS ENGINEERING COLLEGE HONORS ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE’S LEGACY WITH INSPIRING STUDENT-LED INNOVATION ACTIVITY

In celebration of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Janm Shatabdi Varsh — the centenary year of one of India’s most iconic and visionary leaders — SRMS College of Engineering & Technology (CET), Bareilly hosted a power-packed, student-led activity under the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).

Led under the UP Department of Higher Education, this initiative encouraged young minds to think big, lead with ethics, and contribute to the nation with knowledge. The activity was a movement to carry forward Vajpayee ji’s vision of a strong, self-reliant, progressive India rooted in integrity, development, and innovation.

During the activity, students explored Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s bold economic reforms and expansion of privatization, the infrastructure growth and global investment drives, various landmark foreign policy decisions and global diplomacy, as well as the transformational Pokhran nuclear tests (in 1998), leading to his visionary slogan: Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan, wherein, Vajpayee ji added ‘Jai Vigyan’ to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri ji’s slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’, specifying the importance of knowledge in India’s progress. However, from statesmanship to science, from poetry to policy, students discovered how Atal ji’s leadership shaped modern India’s roadmap.
