PSYCHO-DERMATOLOGY CME ‘संगम’ AT SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES EXPLORES MIND-SKIN LINK WITH EMINENT EXPERTS ACROSS INDIA!
SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly, in collaboration with the Psychodermatology Association of India (PDAI) and Rohilkhand Dermatology Society (RDS), hosted Psycho-Dermatology संगम CME, highlighting the close connection between mental health and skin diseases.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, with Chief Guest Dr Koushik Lahiri, President PDAI, in the presence of Dr (Prof) PK Pardal (Head, Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, IMS); Dr (Prof) Pratik Gahalaut (Head, Dermatology IMS); Dr VK Chawla (Patron RDS); Organising Secretary, Dr (Prof) Madhur Kant Rastogi (Dermatology Dept, IMS); Dr Deepak Charan (Psychiatry Dept, IMS) and Dr Rupali Rohatgi (Psychiatry Dept, IMS).
In his address, Shri Dev Murti likened the psychiatry-dermatology confluence to the sacred Ganga-Yamuna-Saraswati sangam, calling it a blessing for patients. Dr Lahiri emphasized how stress triggers hormonal changes leading to acne, eczema, and psoriasis, while skin ailments often push patients toward depression. He also spoke on the impact of cosmetic products and social media on mental health.
The CME featured insightful talks by experts including Dr Abhineetha Hosthota (Bengaluru), Dr Tarun Narang (PGI Chandigarh), Dr Shubh Mohan Singh (PGI Chandigarh), along with a panel discussion on daily practice challenges, an interactive quiz, and a hands-on stress management workshop. The sessions concluded with a faculty felicitation by Shri Dev Murti. Dignitaries present included Dr Shubh Mohan Singh, Vice President PDAI; Dr B Kumar, President RDS; and Dr Vijay Gupta, Secretary RDS.
