As the discipline that forms the bedrock of medical science, the Department of Physiology plays a pivotal role in the education of future healthcare professionals. Our commitment is to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the human body, which is essential for developing clinical acumen and a spirit of scientific inquiry.

A cornerstone of our efforts has been the effective implementation of the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum. We emphasize vertical and horizontal integration to ensure students grasp the clinical relevance of physiological principles from day one.

Innovation in teaching remains a key priority, and the faculty has developed a blend of pedagogical techniques-including game-based learning, problem-based exercises, creative methods like cartoons and caricature drawings and interactive online quizzes-to create an engaging learning environment. Practical sessions in our well-equipped laboratories and flipped classrooms that encourage active participation have transformed our learning spaces into hubs of knowledge exchange, ensuring a solid understanding of human physiology. This is complemented by regular, informal feedback, creating a supportive loop that helps our students grow in confidence and skill.

Fostering a culture of research is also central to our mission. Through dedicated mentorship,we guide undergraduate students in short-term research projects, providing them with practical experience in study design, data collection, and analysis. Our postgraduate students receive thorough training in specialized areas of physiology, equipping them with the skills to pursue meaningful research. Their dissertation topics are aligned with current health issues, and their work consistently contributes to the body of scientific literature through publication in peer-reviewed journals.
As we look to the future, the Department of Physiology is committed to continuing its progress by further refining our educational strategies, expanding our research endeavors, and inspiring the next generation of healthcare leaders.
