SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES HOST INSPIRING GUEST LECTURE ON TRANSFORMING MATERNAL, NEWBORN & CHILD HEALTH IN INDIA
The Department of Community Medicine at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly recently organized an insightful Guest Lecture on “Conceptualizing Integrated Approach for Improving Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition in India through Family Adoption Program.”
The session was led by Prof (Dr) Narendra Kumar Arora, MBBS, MD (Pediatrics), Executive Director, The INCLEN Trust International, New Delhi, and President of AIIMS Bilaspur (2025–2030), who has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to more than 40 books.
Warmly welcomed by Dr MS Butola (Principal, IMS) and Dr Rohit Sharma (Dean PG), the lecture drew enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Community Medicine, Pediatrics, and MBBS students from batches 2022, 2023 & 2024.
Dr Arora stressed the urgent need for holistic and sustainable strategies to strengthen maternal and child healthcare in India. Highlighting the Family Adoption Program, he emphasized how medical students and professionals can contribute directly to preventive healthcare, early detection, nutrition, and real-world community interventions. His address not only shed light on policy-level approaches, but also inspired students to embrace their roles as future healthcare leaders.
The session concluded with Dr MS Butola felicitating Dr Arora with a token of appreciation in the presence of faculty, doctors, and staff, marking the end of a truly enriching and thought-provoking academic experience.
