THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK! SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES HOSTS CYBER CRIME AWARENESS WORKSHOP with SP CITY MANUSH PAREEK

At SRMS IMS, awareness meets action, because online safety starts with you.

In a powerful initiative to promote digital safety and responsible online behavior, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly organized an insightful Cyber Crime Awareness Workshop for its students. The session was led by Bareilly’s SP City, Manush Pareek, whose engaging talk shed light on the realities of today’s fast-evolving cyber world.

Calling social media both “a powerful tool and a potential trap,” Pareek urged students to stay alert and think critically before posting or sharing anything online. He highlighted growing cyber threats like “pig butchering” scams, cyberbullying, digital arrests, and extortion, emphasizing that awareness is the first line of defense.

From practical tips on creating strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication to maintaining what he termed “social media hygiene”, avoiding oversharing, keeping emotions private, and restricting app permissions, Pareek offered students a digital survival toolkit. He further advised turning off Wi-Fi and mobile data at night and reporting any suspicious activity immediately via helplines 1930, 1090, or Cybercrime.gov.in.

Welcoming the guest, Dr MS Butola, Principal, SRMS IMS, lauded the initiative and presented a memento to the SP. The session saw active participation from students and faculty including Dr Bindu Garg, Dr Samta Tiwari, and Dr Kranti Kumar, marking it as a memorable step toward a safer, smarter digital future.
