The department of Anatomy was built with the inception of Medical College in 2005. Undergraduate classes for MBBS (annual intake of 200) and paramedical students have been running successfully since then. Post-graduation course was started in 2011 & presently annual intake is of 5 post-graduate students every year. Department has well equipped Dissection Hall, Histology laboratory, Anthropometry Lab, Hemoanatomy Lab, Embryology Lab, digital histology gallery, research laboratory, Museum and Clinical Anatomy Gallery with latest teaching facilities. The department has received consent from 98 volunteers for body donation. The esteemed volunteers have already donated thirty-eight bodies to the department. A workshop 'Hands on cadaver' in collaboration with various clinical departments is also an initiative by the Anatomy  department. It is the most effective means to impart anatomical knowledge during the undergraduate and postgraduate medical training period. It is a keystone in SRMS medical education and research like surgical training, development of medical devices, forensic sciences & pathology. Recently, the department has conducted a chart competition followed by an award ceremony, which covered figures from all parts of the body. Students participated with enthusiasm. These posters are framed & displayed on the walls of the Dissection Hall.
