The Department is always committed and working for the welfare of the community, continuously evolving since its inception. It engages in diverse activities including Teaching and Training, Research, Patient Care in Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) and Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), and Outreach initiatives like Hospital on Wheels, Mobile Telemedicine Bus, and Bhairpura Telemedicine Center. Our commitment extends to ensure comprehensive care.

The department has extensive infrastructure that includes a museum, undergraduate lab, research lab, library, and demonstration room that are all set up to effectively educate and train undergraduate and graduate students. In the museum are more than 250 models, specimens, and charts addressing a range of subjects. The educational materials is regularly upgraded to keep students abreast with most recent knowledge and resources.

Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC)

UHTC, located in Rampur Garden, Bareilly City, serves approximately 50,000 people in surrounding urban slums within a 5 km radius. The focus remains on providing accessible and quality healthcare to the underserved urban population.

Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC)

Situated in Village Dhaura Tanda, RHTC provides regular OPD and emergency services to around 64,000 people across 24 villages. Various promotive and preventive community services are carried out in this area with an aim to educate and empower the rural community on health and wellness. 

Bhairpura Telemedicine Centre

Established in June 2016, the Bhairpura Telemedicine Centre leverages the synergy of information technology and medical science to serve the community. The community is served at this center with a goal is to bridge the gap between rural patients and advanced healthcare services. 

SRMS-IMS Hospital on Wheels

Inaugurated by Honorable Ex-Chief Minister of UP Shri Akhilesh Yadav on October 18, 2015, the SRMS IMS Hospital on Wheels includes two air-conditioned buses providing facilities like mammography, X-ray, eye examination, audiometry, OPD, free pharmacy, pathology, and minor OT. This mobile hospital covers various remote areas of Bareilly as per predefined schedule.

SRMS IMS Mobile Telemedicine Bus

Launched by the Honorable Health Minister (UP) Shri Siddharth Nath Singh on September 23, 2017, this bus offers video conferencing with specialist consultations, free consultation, vital record monitoring, basic investigations, and free drug distribution. Our telemedicine bus aims to provide continuous care and follow-up for chronic conditions.

Vardaan

The inauguration of SRMS "VARDAAN" marks a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare accessibility for rural communities. This community health outreach contact centre serves as a pivot for individuals referred from various SRMS outreach initiatives, including UHTC, RHTC, Telemedicine Center Bhairpura, Mobile Telemedicine Bus, and villages under the SRMS Family Adoption Programme. Patients can conveniently register at this center, streamlining access to a comprehensive range of services through a single window. Vardan is functioning as a crucial referral linkage between outreach centers and the main hospital, "VARDAAN" ensures
seamless coordination and continuity of care.

Outreach Activities

The department organizes various outreach activities to bring about a change in behavior and health awareness that is long-lasting.

Research & Publication World Health Day (7th April,18)

Theme - “Universal Health Coverage Everyone Everywhere.” A media based IEC campaign was arranged through visual display regarding Universal Health Coverage Everyone Everywhere at various locations in SRMS Hospital and SRMS IMS. At RHTC & UHTC Health Education awareness talk and focus Group Discussion on Health Seeking Behavior was held. Health Activities were also organized at Bhairpura and Mobile Telemedicine Centre..

Research & Publication World Breastfeeding Week, (1-7 August, 18)

Theme - “Foundation of Life.” Many academic activities were run throughout the week. Department of Gynecology, Pediatrics and Community Medicine, in combination, organized debate competition and quiz. UG students, PG students and interns participated in these activities..

Research & Publication World AIDS Day, (1st December, 18)

Theme - “Know Your Status”. A human chain and Rally was organized from SRMS IMS to Bhojipura Railway Station and back. A Nukkad Natak was performed in front of OPD at SRMS hospital. A media based IEC campaign was arranged through visual display regarding HIV/AIDS awareness at various locations in SRMS Hospital and SRMS IMS. At RHTC, a talk was delivered. At UHTC, a rally was organized comprising of around 100 persons. A talk was delivered at Bhairpura and Mobile Telemedicine center.

Research & Publication Global Hand Washing Day, 15th October

Theme - “Clean Hands - A recipe for Health.” Activities were organized by department at various health & training centers of department viz. RHTC, UHTC, Bhairpura Telemedicine Centre & Hospital Auditorium. RHTC (18th Oct. 2018), interns & MSW visited the village Sarpanch’s House and School also where they addressed the villagers & Students about the benefits of good hand hygiene and how numerous diseases can be prevented by simple hand washing. 

UHTC (16th Oct., 2018), Interns visited two schools (Vaidhahi School, Siklapur and Vishnupal Sadan, Kalibari) of the field practice area of Department of Community Medicine & conducted activities to educate the students about Hand hygiene & hand washing. They also demonstrated to community at Faltungunj about proper hand washing practices and hand hygiene.

Research & Publication Anti Leprosy Day, (30 Jan., 19)

Theme - Let’s Join Hands Together to Raise Voice against, Leprosy & Cancer Day, (04 Feb.,19): Theme:- “I Am & I Will”.

Key Activities: Video Presentation, Health Talk, Pamphlet distribution, were organized by department at various health & training centers. They tried to generate awareness amongst community by telling the patients and their relatives about the signs and symptoms of Leprosy & Cancer Respectively. They also tried to make them familiar with the diagnostic treatment available and tried to remove the social stigma attached with leprosy & Fear with Cancer.

Community health Training component of Medical students, Nursing students and Interns. U.G. students use to go for family visits under supervision of faculty, Post Graduate students and MSW for their training as well as they sensitize and motivate Community for Various Public Health issues and Nursing students also visit to area as for their Training and they counsel pregnant woman and parents with age 24 months children for proper nutritional advice to them.
