The department of Pediatrics provides educational experiences in the diversified field of Pediatrics in an intellectual environment conducive to the learning and the exemplary practice of Pediatrics. The department trains 6 postgraduate students every year in compassing neonatology adolescent medicine. Pediatric neurology, cardiology hematology, pediatric pulmonology, oncology, nephrology, intensive care and gastroenterology etc. SRMS IMS is a pioneer institute in the medical education the department boasts of fully equipped state of art 10 bedded PICU and 10 bedded NICU besides general ward immunocompromised word and isolation ward are issues are fully equipped with latest equipment including conventional high frequency ventilators CPAP, BiPAP and HHHFNC machines, warmers, LED phototherapy units, infusion pumps, monitors, laminar flow system, portable ECHO and USG machines and transcutaneous bilirubinometer. Nutritional rehabilitation centre and Thalassemia day care facilities are remarkable features of department. 

Immunization facility is available every day and all vaccines under universal immunization program are given free of cost. Optional vaccines are also given in the consultation with parents. We train our residence in all skill procedures like lumbar puncture, central line insertion, PICC line, umbilical line, bone marrow aspiration, exchange transfusion, endotracheal intubation, peritoneal dialysis, surfactant instillation and intercostal drainage etc. The department strives to have an appropriate balance between structured educational activities for UG and PG students we are also accredited centre for imparting BLS CPR training by IAP. Besides managing the patients and casualty the residents also learn to manage patients in OPD, here they become specially skilled in anthropometry, vaccination and nutritional counselling. The residents are also motivated to do research activities under the supervision of their guides and mentors and come out with innovations in the field. The department hosts many academic and extracurricular events as a part of routine activities example celebration of World Health days like immunization week breast feeding week, IAP UG and PG quiz and workshops and conferences the department also provides full support to the outreach activities of the institution through campus camps and posting in the urban and rural health centre of the institute department has facilities of clinical psychologist .
