Today, we proudly spotlight Dr Sovan Mohanty, Associate Professor & HOD, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at SRMS CET, a distinguished academician, visionary engineer, ex-Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel, and passionate sportsperson whose remarkable journey reflects excellence far beyond textbooks.

With an inspiring career spanning 32+ years across academics, aerospace systems, research, and advanced communication technologies, Dr Sovan brings a rare blend of practical expertise and academic brilliance to the classroom, with learner-centric innovations. A Chartered Engineer by profession, he completed his PhD (ECE) from Galgotias University; Master of Engineering (ECE) from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra & PGDBA (Operations Management) from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning alongside Professional Engineering Degree AMIE (ECE) from The Institution of Engineers, Kolkata. He completed Diploma in Quality Management & PG Diploma in Material Management from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu.

Before stepping into academics, Dr Sovan served nearly two decades in Technical Stream (Avionics) of IAF, where he handled critical airborne electronics, radar systems, navigation subsystems & communication arrays, contributing in strategic aerospace platforms.

Beyond engineering, Dr Sovan’s journey also reflects discipline and determination through sports. An Odisha State Gold Medalist, accomplished badminton champion, and versatile cricket all-rounder, he continues to inspire students to excel both professionally and personally.
