FROM BODY TO DIVINITY: SRMS INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES HONOURS 21 SELFLESS SOULS WHO PLEDGED TO DONATE THEMSELVES FOR HUMANITY…

Some lives continue to heal the world even after they’re gone…

In a deeply moving ceremony titled देह से दिव्यता तक’-From Body to Divinity, SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly, honored 21 modern-day ‘Maharshi Dadhichis, the individuals who pledged to donate their bodies for medical education and the service of humanity.

The event began with the Cadaveric Oath Ceremony of MBBS Batch 2025, where students vowed to treat every donated body as their first teacher with respect, dignity, and gratitude.

Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, honoured each life donor, calling their pledge the highest form of donation and an act of true courage. He shared that 87 noble donors have already gifted their bodies to SRMS, and 80 more have signed pledges, which is a true legacy of compassion.

Dr Namita Mehrotra, Head of Anatomy Department, said, Body donation is the noblest gift to humanity. Your selfless act will help shape skilled doctors who heal generations to come.” However, one such inspiring story is of Er Subhash Mehra (Trust Advisor) & his wife Dr Usha Rani Mehra, who chose body donation after fulfilling the final wish of his late sister, Chanchal Malhotra, whose body was also donated to SRMS Medical College in 2023 for students’ learning. “It gives us peace,” Er Mehra said, “to know our bodies will continue to serve even after we’re gone.”

Joined by Aditya Murti (Director Administration), Air Marshal (Retd.) Dr MS Butola (Principal), and faculty members, the ceremony stood as a reminder that ‘real immortality is not living forever, but helping life go on.’
